Gangs hands down. There are far more individuals active in gangs in this country than terrorists. Gang violence occurs every day in every major city. Gangs are involved in the drug trade.

Terrorists typically have one big strike that takes years to plan and doesn't have a guarntee of going off correctly. If it does it creates a big impact like 9/11 but again, it takes years of planning.

Interestingly enough gang violence has killed more Americans than terrorists have. So gang violence would be the greater threat. So why doesn't the media and political attention towards gangs eclipse that of the so-called "War on Terror". Simple. Politicians and the media don't focus on an issue because it is the most relevant, they focus on what garners the most public attention or what is the most salacious.

Terrorist are more of a threat. They are more organized and focussed on their cause than street gangs are. They typically have greater financial resources as well. Gangs mainly target rival gangs, not entire countries.

The threat is our peace of mind. Gangs can be more readily identified...this does not make them less of a threat. Terrorists are impossible to find by the very nature of terror and how it is applied.
