I travel a lot as well with no problem, people from different countries/cultures seam very nice.
Maybe sometimes the problem is not from other people but from ones self? How we act, talk (often too loud), demanding things because "I am entitle to because I am an American", etc?????
So who knows?
As a person from a different backround and living in the US for a few years now, I found an American people talking a lot about not being racists but the truth is far from it.
For some reason you guys are very afraid of people form different countries/cultures, especially you are afraid people with accents. It is kind of funny to watch this.
Another thing, people here have a though time to make eye contact. It seams that people in US think that if someone is watching, they must think in a negative way. Sometimes I just look at a person because he or she looks nice, nothing to do with not like this person or sex. I think you guys here became sexophobic.
IT'S OK TO LOOK AT PEOPLE, THAT IS WHY WE HAVE A PAIR OF EYES.

Yeah I know mate, it is human instinct but people can always overide this with their own thought. The people who dont are shallow / ignorant amongst many other things! Look on the bright side : the fact that you even posted that question means that you are not one of them! Be pleased that you can see past the superficial stuff!

I agree and I have had problems but from the opposite side if you understand. I go out to help people and get treated as royalty. I have been called an angel I dont deny it is faltering but I do wish people would not make such assumptions.

Hi!

I did not not understand why some white people assumed that I would be rude to them without first hearing me....

Now I have a trick...those white people who are rude to me because of skin colour, I JUST BECOME SINCERELY NICE TO THEM...

Some of them eventually admit to me that I changed their wrong attitude towards black people....LOVE is the answer!

Overcome EVIL with GOOD!It will make the "uncivilized" to be civilized right there! In this world, no one expects to come across a nice person...so I decided be one of the few who love those who hate me.

HuG!

Thank God. I really did not meet such people in life. Traveled a lot all around the world and in US without getting any disrespect because of my color gender and looks. BTW I look very innocent harmless person.

Yes, this is an age old problem. People judging others when you should not judge anyone.

First impressions are lasting ones. This happens to everyone. I just let people judge me for me and move on. If they want to hang onto their first impressions, ce la vie. No skin off my nose. It just proves their ignorance.

It sucks - i know everyone judges people whether they mean it or not, but u gotta keep that kinda thing to yourself. It sickens me that people can be horrible and even violent to people just because they look or act differently to you. Raarghh!

It doesn't bother me. It's a sign of insecurity in the person doing the judging, and has nothing what-so-ever to do with me.
