Ants actually like to hang out where there is water, so chances are they are coming up somewhere around your toilet. Use a spray or some kind of ant trap that targets the whole colony and place around the back of your toilet.

Probably from the base of the toilet, must be a crack or opening next to the base in the floor.

These are the ferocious toilet bowl fire ants that lurk in toilet bowls until an exposed butt is within striking distance. If you happen to sit down and they attack, you could find yourself in extreme agony with hundreds of bowl fire ants dangling from your butt cheeks.

They are coming up through the floorboards or foundation, probably you need to seal around the pipe and replace the wax ring.

i think it means that
a) you live in a drought-striken area and you have damn thirsty ants or
b) you need an exorcist.
