Of couse the response to this crisis was a bit slow but this was probably reasonable. The Isrealie action in Lebanon did not start as a war it started as a limited measured strike at Hisbollah. It was only after a few days that it became appearent that this was becoming a much larger crisis. The Government of Canada at any given time don't know the whereabout of citizens in foreign destinations. The number that register their entry and location at embasseys is very small. Even yet there is probably no way of knowing how many Canadians are in Lebanon or where they are.
Most will probably be okay if they just stay where they are and wait out the situation.

In time of war, such as is in Lebanon, evacuating the entire foreign population takes time. I am tired of citizens complaining that the Canadian government or the British government or the United States government are not moving quickly enough to get there people out. War is pandemonium. It is better to move safely and slowly rather than quickly and rashly with high stakes. The foreign governments and embassies are at the mercy of the Palestinian or Israeli government and their respective infrastructures while evacuating their nationals.

Too much WHINING!! from both of our countries!! They should thank their lucky stars that our countries got their sorry asses out of there!! Maybe it's just me,but I sure as hell wouldn't have been in the Middle-East in the first place. Besides the whining,,Don't these people realize that we had to be very careful even going over there to get them?? Another golden opportunity for the God Dam terrorists......
