It sure has become a crisis of major proportions. In what was it 1949 the issue was what to do with the many thousands of displaced Jews from Europe who had no place to go. The British Government was in charge of Palistine and surrounding areas. The solution was thought to reestablish the ancient Jewish homeland. The response was overwhelming and refugees poured in. The tensions started right away and terrorist groups started on both sides. I know a chap that was in the British Army in Palestine and he said when the Brits pulled out both sides were shooting at them to hurry their departure.

I guess hindsight is very clear now. The fact is that Isreal is there and that is not going to change. Both sides will have to take enough loss to convince them to work things out. It appears that a U.N. peacekeeping force will become inevitable and they will probably have the same problem the British did.

Okay. It was wrong. Now what will you do? In 1948 it seemed like a good idea - take a large segment of homeless people and give them unuseable land, tell them good luck, and then go on about the world's business. But the Israelis made the land useable, they established themselves as participants in the mid-east arena, and now their neighbors want the land back. Don't forget that the mid-east countries have a history of fighting themselves ( over the color of the sky, was Allah brown, red or blue, anything to keep fighting ) and they only took the wars they were fighting with each other and decided to fight the Israelis for a change. What everyone seems to forget, is that the Muslim/ Arab nations are violent, vengeful people and under the name of "allah" will do anything to keep fighting someone. Remember, it is their goal to make the world allah's place - what country is next, China?

Israel has as much right to exist as any nation. The land Israel occupies has been in and out of Arab and Israeli land for thousands of years. If you look in the Bible the Jews and Arabs come from the same ancestors. In other words they are distant cousins. Israel wants to exist as a democracy. The Arab nations want to drive Israel into the sea and have said so on numerous occasions. However, there are many Arab individuals who find Israel to be a good neighbor, especially when it comes to providing employment for them.
Israel has suffered thousands of terror attack in the last 5 years .To not fight back against terrorism is to give up and die as a nation. When America comes under attack we have to fight back and we always have. Why anyone thinks any nation should not fight back against terrorism is beyond me.I guess the only way some people would think terrorism is worth fighting against is if someone dropped a bomb in their living room and killed some members of their family, but, on the other hand some would simply ask " It must have been someting that I did wrong to make the terrorists mad at me !"

It wasn't just US, it was the UN. The point was "A land without a people, for a people without a land".

The problem was, there were people there, and as Israel has been attacked over the years, it has gradually acquired more land in defending itself (some of which is being given back).

Now the arguement also exists that Israel was there long before the Palestinians scooted them out.

Sooo... where do you stop?

When the stars fall from the skys.

Let me guess: You think Israel is responsible for Islamic unrest in India, Malaysia and Somalia?
Also, since 1948 the Israelis have had one goal to live in peace.
The other side has responded with:
No peace
No Land
No negotiations.
And at the same time saying different things to gulible western journalists and leaders.

They just didn't take it and give it to the jews. The jews and others bought the land from the palestinians and created a country.ask the palestinians why they want it back now after the jews converted the desert to arable land. once its sold its sold.
Now they want to throw all the jews into the red sea.
Can't they accept that there is going to be an Israel as neighbour and try to live with them, do business, negotiate , learn from them.
No.they want it back by force. which is not going to happen.
Accept the reality. you can't throw them into the sea now..
live with them or die with them...and they prefer to die..which in my opinion is stupidity...

You're misinformed. There never was a state of Palestine, there never was a Palestinian people. The "Palestinian refugees" are pawns created by the Arab nations---by their own admission! Take a look at the following article.
