......why didn't the UN enforce resolution 1559, which calls for hezbollah to disband and for syria to stop it's meddling in lebanon? israel wouldn't be doing what it's doing if the UN wasn't so stinking worthless.

E K.....you are mis-informed.
you referred to egypt and jordan? they have come out and blamed hezbollah for all this, not israel.
as far as america selling them weapons, how is that any different than the russians, chinese and iranians selling weapons to all these terrorist groups? those aren't m-16's they're toting around!
finally, prior to 1948 when britain "gave" them land, there were ZERO territorial claims to that area by arabs.......in fact, jews were the majority of the population at the time! there is simply no logical way to defend the actions of arabs towards israel.

Great question that will have all the liberals upset. You should also ask why President Clinton gave North Korea millions to start up a nuclear energy program. Typical, liberal policies responsible for screwing up America and the world.

The referenced UN 1959 Resolution was not enforced because it was not the will of the members of the UN to enforce it. It is like where I live, there are traffic laws but every where people are speeding. Or it is like immigration, immigration is illegal if not accomplished through formal channels, but government has been looking the other way for years as illegal immigrants from Mexico pour across our border.
As far as Israel doing what it is doing. It would be doing nothing if the United States Congress over the years had not given it a world class military capability.
Ever since Isaac and Ishmael, the Jews and the Arabic-Islamics have been fighting and feuding.
And because of liberal congressional campaign contributions of the IAPAC, the US Congress has been liberal in supporting Israel militarily and otherwise and most significantly ignoring their conquest of Palestinia territory settlement after settlement.
Ariel Sharone has stated that he owns the US Congress. And this US Israeli bias has incurred the undying hatred of the Islamic-Arabic nations in the Middle East. Musharrif of Pakistan, Mubarek of Egypt, Queen and Prince Abdulla (now King) of Jordan have all publically stated that it is the US Israeli bias the fuels the Arabic-Islamic hatred of the US and the resulting terrrorism.
The US has taken sides in this age old feud and is paying for it dearly. And so are the Palestinians and those in Lebanon, as the Israelis have used every provcation to use their superior military proress to oblitierate infastructure, destroy family homes, and kill innocent people.
Israel is doing what it is doing out of vengence rooted in an age old feud, and because the US has given them the military might to do so.
There will be no peace until the United States developes objectivity and impariality and the United Nations brokers a Palestinian State.

How can a government entity disband a Terrorist organization? It would be like asking why didn't the US just disband the Taliban...I agree the UN is seeming pretty weak right now, but they should not have made a resolution there is absolutely no way to enforce.

This whole mess is to try and do something about the terrorism in the middle east. What is going on now,has been thought up years ago.Between all these think tanks, this is what they have come up with. The powers that be,believe that out of chaos comes order. All this is,is another thought up idea, from these think tanks, that they are implementing. This whole mess goes back to WW2,when England gave all that land to the Jews.We are living with that decision rite now.As long as there is Jews and Arabs living in close proximity to one another,in where they are now, they will always fight.
Irvin Baxter from www.endtimeministries.com (I think that's the rite web site) has the low down on this whole mess.I urge everyone to go to his web site.If what he is saying is true,we are really close to end times.

Because the UN has their heads so far up their... won't go there.
Same question about the UN sanctions on Iraq after Gulf War 1. It is an ineffective body that is taking up valuable land in New York.

I can agree that the UN seems pretty useless. Alot of what is going on on the middle east is sad but prophesied to happen. I do not choose either as I choose to not hate. But if you think the UN is bad watch what happens with the EU. You haven't seen anything yet.

so true. Its because the UN has no real power to enforce their resolutions and once the sensation of the situation is over the issue is ignored. That is democratic process of the world for you.
