When I took my nano out of the USB, it said "do not disconnect", with a circle and a line through it, and it says it's off, even when it's on, and it doesn't charge. It is 2GB iPod nano.

My advice is not to mess with it and call customer service. depending on how long your warranty lasts you could maybe get a new one from the manufacturer. SEEK PROFFESSIONAL ADVICE OVER THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE

you should have ejected it in the correct way, don't just pull out the usb.
try resetting (holding the menu and play button pressed together for about ten seconds)
if that doesn't work, go to the apple shop
