The AL Cy Young is still wide open at this point. It is going to come down to whoever does the best over the last two months. It could be anyone, including Liriano, Papelbon, Schilling, Mussina,Santana, Halladay, Contreras, or others.

AL - I think Papelbon should win the Cy Young, because if the season ended today he would have the single best season by a closer ever, in terms of ERA, hits allowed. If not Papelbon, I would say Liriano
In the National League - Brandon Webb or Tom Glavine

There is a bias against closers for Cy Young, so Papelbon is going to need to stay on his absolutely insane pace this year to win it.
Liriano is a starter, which bodes well for him. As a rookie though, I could see the sportswriters saying, "We'll give him Rookie of the Year" and give the Cy Young to someone else.
Stupid - I know - but that's why they are sportswriters.

Right now I would say Papelbon or Liriano in the AL and Brandon Webb in the NL.
