As of now I get 15,000 a year for 40hrs a week, no weekends. How much should I ask for now that I am done with my associates. My boss is a first time business owner and doesn't know how much is fair? My Job is very easy I only do actual work 2-3 days of the 5 that Im there. He builds homes. I only do phone work and sometimes go and pick up paper work. Thats about it. What would be a fair salary?

I guess I should have stated that my boss is the one that wants to pay me more and he asked me what I thought was fair and I had no clue. But he does want me to make more money.

There is no black and white answer, as it is a broad range, depending on experience. I work for a custom builder and make three times your salary, no degree. I do have a considerable amount of experience, but you will learn that as you go. I think the minimum you should be making is $25k/year, but even that seems pretty low. I was working for another builder at one time, working 9-3 making $38k/year....my title at both jobs was/is Office Manager.

Working for a small business owner, your not going to get paid much. If you have an associates you should apply at some larger firms or corporations. Your salary will increase significantly, as will your work load. After working for a degree there is no way I would work for that kind of money. I'm working on my bachelors and after I get it I better get P-A-I-D.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career.

Where do you currently live? The cost of living varies with different areas of the country. Maybe $20,000 to 24,000 would be a good starting place (that's a little less than $10/hr to a little less than $12/hr) to try. When I worked in a large corporate office that's around what I started off at in '97.

Well, I don't know where the lady is from who said you should be making $23,000 a year but I would LOVE to move there!!! I do the same type of work you do and make roughly $18,000 a year.

Regardless of your state, you should be making more than that. Go to you local department of labor website and see if they have a salary census. It makes it much easier to ask for a raise if you are armed with black and white proof.
Without knowing your experience or your location, I would say you should be making no less than $19,500.

i assume it honestly relies upon on the position you stay. in case you stay in an fantastically small city and artwork for a small health care professional facility then they could purely take care of to pay you 9 funds an hour. yet in a higher city/higher facility you may make 13 funds an hour. those are only guesses however. Cheers and function relaxing at your new pastime!!! :-)

The salary of secretaries make about $7.00-$8.00 per hour which is anywhere from $15,000--$16,000 per year. But it depends where you live and the cost of living.

You can go to www.salary.com to see what secretaries should be getting paid in your area and also see nationwide what secretaries are getting paid. Then you can compare if you are below or above average in your pay.

Umm sweetie, you're making way below what you should be making. Your base salary should be at 23,000-27,000 per year.
