For a few reasons. First, it violates the rules of the sport and many other laws. Next, it goes against the purity of sport, "the better man wins", not the better man on "drugs." Finally, it gives people a distinct and unfair advantage against others who may lack access to such things or better yet, don't wish to be a guinea pig for sport scientists...

Frankly, you wanting to see a 5.0 100m is irrelevant

I agree with welsh_darkhorse. There should be 2 separate Olympics one for "natural" athletes and one for drugged up athletes. Lets see just how far and how fast a human being can go when taking enhancement drugs. I dont see anything wrong with it because the athletes are adults and can make their own decisions, they know the risks so let them take the drugs and let them compete but only against other "enhanced" athletes.

There is a great SNL skit about the steroid Olympics.. I wish I knew how to find it..

but listen, drugs have serious bad effects.. its illegal because they are trying to protect athletes from killing themselves.. If steroids were perfectly safe and nothing bad happened if you took them, then they would be called vitamins..

It would still be cool to see a person breaking 5 secs, but lets not give him recognition for killing himself.

Because it would be who had the best scientist in there camp rather than who is actually the naturally fastest man on earth!
It would no longer be a sport but an experiment!

Stick petrol-soaked feathers up their bottom and then set light to them. They should easily manage it.
