I had my most recent injection on Wednesday and I can barely even drive because am having severe road rage. Is this normal?

Other than the irritability, I am having no problems. I have been taking it for almost a year and have had no migraines or weight gain. Just have become pure evil the week following the injection.

Mood swings are a common side effect of the Depo. Make an appointment to see your doctor immediately and discuss this with them. You may need to take something to tone down your temper for a little while. Once this shot wears off, I'd suggest trying a different form of contraception. I was on the Depo for about 6 years, and I put up with mood swings and severe weight gain because I thought it was still the best option for me ... until I got hospitalized with a 5 day migraine and ended up having to go through CT and MRI scans ... turned out, it was the Depo causing the migraines, not a brain tumor! (Thank goodness)

I switched to the IUD (copper) and had that for 3 years, but still had heavy cycles and bad period pain, as well as mood swings. So, I had that removed and while discussing with my husband what to try next, we decided to have another baby.

After I had my second child I got the Mirena IUD. My periods went a bit wonky for a while to begin with, but now they seem to have stopped altogether (I had it fitted in February '06). So far the Mirena is great ... no weight gain, no mood swings, no migraines, no periods, no cramping. I'm very happy with it.

yes, i didn't like the way it made my body feel. Plus it made me gain weight. I don't like the Depo and i would never take it again. If you do keep using it, watch what you eat. Its VERY EASILY to gain the weight.
