It has nothing to do with Christianity that the Western world has just laws, but our embracing science and secularism that has made us compassionate and tolerant nations.
Fundamentalist countries are the most dangerous ones to live in--why is this?

I agree. I think theocracies have the problem that their 'truth' is dogmatic and it can lead to abuses of power because their rules come from faith and not form reason.
But religion is very important, it gives us a sense of order in a chaotic and uncertain world. That is why I feel the US founding fathers greatest achievement was to strike a balance between state and religion. Where the citizens would be governed by a set of laws based on reason but let fee to practice any religious believe to enrich their spiritual life.

it's not about the belief, it's about the person. if there is tolarance and understand then any belief can make someones life better
