World Health & European guidelines state that a child shouldnt have anything other than milk for 6 months. Reseach has shown that by weaning too earlier there is a greater tendency for allergies to develop as the gut isn't mature enough. We are now a generation of allergy suffers so perhaps we need to consider this. If he is not satisfied try changing his formula to the next step one. If this doesn't work start using your rice cereal but always give him the bottle first and then the rice after 6 months you should offer the food first.

I started my baby on rice cereal twice a day when she was one month old per my doctor. I would mix it with her formula to make it thick and more filling. The cereal contains lots of vitamins that is good for the baby. I suggest starting out the baby on one rice cereal bottle in the am and one at night. Make sure that it is not the thick to where it will not come out of the bottle. The make these special nipples for cereal bottles called y-cut. Also when a baby is fussy between feedings you can supplement with water. This will help you get him on a schedule.

About 4 months is OK for rice cereal...no jar food until about 5 months. It's going to be a mess at first, but feed him the cereal on a spoon.

Well there breally isnt a special time fopr all children it really depends on the child. my one son started at 2 1/2 monthes and my daughter at 4 monthes so i went by the whole if they take a full bottle and still scream then start the baby on cerial but very small amounts at first and if he doesnt like it off the spoon try mixing a little into his formula and giving it to him through his bottle

I started feeding my daughter cereal early because like your son she never seemed full. She started eating cereal at about 3 to 4 months. She has a very healthy appetite now at 10 months, that girl can EAT!

I always wait till they seem interested in what everyone else is putting into their mouths. Which is usually around 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 months. Make a little at first, usually the first few times they are just going to play with it till they realize they can push it back with their tongues and swallow.

If he was my child I would give him cereal once maybe twice a day. I started my first child at about 4 months but i also started fruit as well because rice is very binding.

I'd check with your pediatrician first-- but I think at four months he's probably okay with a little rice cereal. It's supposed to help them sleep a little longer if you spoonfeed a little rice cereal. Take it slow the first time--in case of allergy.
Don't forget an extra towel--it's going to get messy!

You can start him on rice cereal now. You can try mixing it in his bottle to make the formula thicker. My friend has a 2month old that has reflux and her doctor told her to go ahead and put cereal in her formula. I did it with my 2 children and it helped fill them up.
