Funny....that when you ask this kind of question people give you real "traditional" roles in biology like botanist, plant pathologist, marine biologist, zoologist, etc.
Biology today is nothing like it was 25 years ago. There are many things that you can do with a background in the life sciences that don't involve trekking through jungles, studying flora, or swimming with fish!
Consider looking up the following careers
- bioinformatics
- geneticist /genetic counselling
- forensic scientist
- drug researcher
- drug development/production scientist
- foods scientist
- microbiologist
- clinical research associates
and the list goes on and on.....check out http://bio.com to see how cool biology can really be!

If you are in junior high talk with your parents, friends parents, and people in the community who have jobs that you might be interested in. If you are in high school talk with a high school counselor or if you are in college talk with a college career counselor. There are tests that are available that can help with career choices. There is the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator which is a good place to start. The career counselor could help with other career aptitude type tests. Also, use the internet to look up possible careers as well as checking out different colleges with programs in the life sciences.
At any rate you can still talk with people in the community that have jobs that you find interesting.

there are many careers in biology fields. picking on will depend on what you really want to do and where you want to live. For instance you wouldn't want to be a marine biologist in nebraska.
Heres a couple... botany, forestry, natural resources, plant pathologist, fisheries biologist, wildlife biologist, zoologist, biologist, earth sciences, geology, archaeology, etc.
i think biology (in the broad sense) is a good choice. I chose forestry for a career and am very happy with my decision.

I would go to a local college and meet with a career counselor. They would be able to tell you what careers you can pick from and help you make the right choice, just try to meet with a college you may be interested in when it's time to go

Just choose your favorite subject in school and try to take a career in that field. I am not saying to become a teacher but if you like science then go into something like food science or the science of amimals or something.
