Im sure many on the board would say adultery..but I think it is more than that..I think its a lack of real commitment from the start by one or both spouses.
Our society has come to the mindset that everything has to be fast paced and get "immediate gratification" and if many dont get that immediate "payoff" they call it quits.
Sad. Very sad.
So many call it quits before the race even really begins.

Not realizing what the vows really mean and finding out too late that you or your partner never really meant them in the first place.
Thoughts of marriage should start with the BAD TIMES "what if's". Then decide. Such as, if your partner became disabled, how would you deal with cleaning them and absolutely no sex?
And a "what if" for every horrible thing you can think of.

they say it's the money or because one cheated...
but to be honest i think all those reasons are just excuses for an inner feeling - the feeling that you just fell out of love....otherwise you'd still try to handle the situation...
and i don't think it is bad if you get divorced. it just means you move on to a different level because the one you were in just didn't fit anymore...

I have witnessed many of my friends go through divorce amicablly and nasty.
There is no one reason for divorce. Sometimes it's one thing like adultery or many things such as growing apart.

The first is always Lack of Communication.
Lots of things stem off that and cause other problems, but that's definitely the number one.

because of the lack of values and morals....people don't take marriage seriously...they run away at the first sign of trouble. Children these days grow up expecting to get what they want (not all of them...this is speaking generally)...You know...back when we could still whip our kids w/o fear of going to jail, kids didn't grow up to be that way...they learned things the hard way, they didn't get everything the wanted, and that carried over into their adult life and on into their marriage....it's not a fairy tale, and too many "kids" these days expect it to be.

Lack of respect and love. You should always ask yourself "how would my spouse feel about this" before you make a decision. If you are about to do something, say something, make decision about something and you think it would upset your spouse, give her doubt about you honesty, faithfulness etc then don't do it. Don't put yourself first. Marriage is about respecting the feelings of your partner and making joint decisions.
