Trying to remember the name of a book -early ninties probably, for young girls?

Question

It was about 3 (?) girls in a boarding-type school, and they lived in room 3D so they called themselves "the foxes of the 3rd Dimension" when they wrote to the boys in the school across the way. I don't know why I want to know - the foxes thing popped in my head and now I'm going nuts trying to remember. Anyway it had to be around 90-94. Thanks!
