Doesn´t have to be famous, just free from major scandals, not changing his mind all the time, not giving his friends and family privilege over others.

There is no such thing as an honest politician. If the bribes don't get 'em, the threats will. (sigh)

If you watch a tape of Colin Powell when he was trying to justify the invasion of Iraq at the UN a few years ago, you see an honest politican. You could see it is his eyes that even he didn't believe what the Intelligence and his bosses were forcing him to say. I call him honest because he did his job, he sold everyone a bill of goods and stepped aside as soon as he could. Can't ask for much more than that from a politican, but then again, he was a general, not a politican. So, an honest politican, one that delivers what they promise, rules out all current senators, governors, congressmen ( and congresswomen ), mayors, sheriffs, judges, district attorneys, city councilmen. I guess that leaves the dog catcher. Whoops, forgot the BTK guy. Must be someone, somewhere. The only problem is that they'll never get elected in the first place. So to answer your question, gotta go with Dubya. He is honestly stupid, honestly naive, and has never been wrong(in his own mind).

Nobody. The definition of an honest person is too strict for any politician to follow.

Not giving own friends and family privilege is also dishonesty.

A ideal politician by definition is shrewd and one who sees the larger picture.

We in India used to have good politicians (not completely but very reasonably honest) but I guess the lady luck is still to smile on us for giving us a politician worth his name.

I have a few good choices:

- Ron Paul(R) from Texas. Not your typical Texas GOP member. Paul was the '88 Libertarian candidate for president. He has been an unabashed Libertarian in a very conservative district.
- Tom Tancredo(R) from Colorado. Sure he is abrasive and says things which are sometimes embarassing. He does say what's on his mind.
- Timothy Penny(D) from Minnesota. A fiscal conservative in a state run by liberal socialist types. No longer in office.
- Sanford Bishop(D) from Georgia. A black congressman from a white district. He has cultivated a good reputation and is proof that Southerners of both races appreciate someone who is honest and frank.
-Jessie Ventura- Independant former governor of Minnesota. Sure he says things which have got him in trouble but he's not afraid to say what's on his mind.

Notice I didn't put McCain on my short list. He was involved in the ABSCAM scandle in the 70's and I question most of the motives of those who are in favor of campaign finance reform.

Jimmy Carter and Al Gore
They are concerned about the enviroment and people
I believe the USA made a major mistake in not electing Al Gore
History will prove this to be true.
Religion backed Bush that is the only reason he was elected

I don't know if there is one. And Hutub...my father was a car salesman for 30+ years and he was great at it. The way he became great was through honesty and respect. The whole "dishonest car salesman" label is just a bad stereotype. Back to politics...I haven't heard anything bad about McCain of AZ or Obama of IL. But who knows...they may be hiding something, right?

Haaaaaa!!! How many honest car salesman are they?? Politicians know, that they get into politics to make a better world, but once they get into it, they wake up, and have to become car salesman, the most dishonest people in the world. So i hope that answer's your question

On the whole there is none! If you insist, maybe we can consider Senator Edward Kennedy.
