Black people invented hip-hop, so it's basically a type of black music, which is why most hip-hop artists are black. Very few white hip-hop artists are good (by good, I mean Beastie Boys or Eminem, which I think are the only ones!).

I think it's because hip hop originated amongst black urban youth. Hip hop has caught on with white audiences. However, because of the upbringing required to be seen as a legitimate hip hop artist is not common in white families, we don't see as many white hip hop artists.
