50 years would be hard. To do a teleportation, you need a machine that can 'scan' the exact properties of all the atoms of the matter you wish to teleport. Then the receive must take the 'fax' and recreate the matter exactly the same. Then you have the issue of whether or not the new you has your soul (if you believe in that) which is a whole different discussion.

Maybe once they get quantum computers working reasonably well it might become possible.

We do it pretty well now with our cars, aircraft, and space travel. It seems that as things stand the reverse is happening. Once we had the Concorde faster than sound commercial aircraft but this has been abandoned. The world is round and no place on earth is farther away than 12,500 miles from any other. To "fax" our bodies (if this is what "teleportation" is) somewhere else is just so much fanciful nonsense. What is generally not known is that the atmospheric air of the world is comprised of about 5.6 x 10^15 tons of matter and, rather than just being something of little value or interest, forms a large quantity of a substance through which travel must proceed.
