It's, if anything, derisive of polygamy and forest-dwelling.

Of course, the 'fairy tales' are all allegorical. In the modern context one might see it as a paean to the differently abled, until the dumb prince shows up to 'rescue' her from her protectors. In the older context, all I can say is GAWD KNOWS, cause I don't.
