Lots like Skype, ICQ, AIM, etc. But yahoo is good and MSN has just been improved. Google is new - but I haven't tried that.

I like Trillian messenger service; you login and use MSN, Yahoo, Aol & others all in one application. Its pretty cool and its free!

there is this one video messenger service ends in frog (sorry I dont know the first half name). I used this a few times, was really good. full featured video chat.
there is another eyeball chat.
why r search engines on earth?

ICQ is quite gud..and very easy to use..
AOL IM is the same.
if you have gmail (google) account it has a inbuilt chat feature in it.
