While I understand that yes, our government might have taken a while to respond and didn't keep the public informed on what was happening, don't you think that the criticism from the evacuees is a little excessive? No, the conditions were not the greatest. Yes, you had to take a 16-hour boat ride instead of a 20 minute flight. Yes, some people suffered from sea-sickness. Yes, it was hot and you were tired, hungry and thirsty. But guess what...your alternative was to stay in a war zone, so what is better? Be thankful that your government rescued you at all...that you are alive and safe! Stop complaining...what exactly were you expecting?!
I'd like to hear your opinions!!!

I asked the question about why so many Canadians were there when it is such a dangerous area as well. Apparently, while the region is dangerous, Lebanon was experiencing a time of huge economic recovery and growth. People were starting to visit there again, when they hadn't been able to for so long. Tourism was really picking up, apparently it's a popular tourist area. And, in all honesty, it had been a safe place to go up until the events of the past week. So that is why so many Canadians and other nationals were there at this time.
