It can be frustrating that's for sure! You could be worrying because you deeply care about the person...or maybe you feel guilty for something you have done...either way it's just human nature that it takes some people a long time to text back...or it could even be technical problems! Their battery could be dead on their phone, or the text could be delayed in sending! I know I have replied promptly to a few texts and they haven't sent until the next day sometimes! The best thing to do if you are really worried after you don't receive one back right away is to call and make sure the person is alright...or just be patient and just tell yourself that maybe their phone isn't on!

well the advantage of texting over calling is its more casual and non intrusive than calling.so ppl are bound to take a lil time to reply at times.sometimes i just get overloaded with sms.and how can u tell if the guy or girl whos supposed to b replying is in a situation where he or she can reply??

text messages r casual.for important stuff or if u think somethings wrong, call instead.

its not fair to say how long can it take to text.ur talking abt a single message, what if the recipient is getting texts from many ppl at the same time.its not that easy

I have come to find out that most times it has to do with when the person gets the text and if they ever do....I tested it by texting something to a friend, then I called him and he didn't get the text till 15 mins later which met that if he text me back right away it could take 15 mins more or less to get back to me....that's 30 mins of my life worrying for nothing.....meaning patience is a virtue honey...

Don't let it get to you, they may be busy, have their phone switched off or, like me, be very crap at typing so it takes ages to compose a reply. So if it bothers you to wait for a reply, just call them instead, then you will know right away whether they are available or not.

Maybe they are busy doing something more important (like working at their job, having a conversation with someone else, or having sex...)

You think you need a quicker response? Everytime you snap, they jump?

You must be really hot...

i know it makes you think they are laughing about what you said(in a bad way)and it makes you think that they hate you or something. as you said it is really annoying and nerve wrecking. people these days really need to hurry up and type faster!!!!

hey i dont think your alone on this one! you wonder if they had got your message or whether you should message again! the worst is when you just tell someone something and all you want is message back saying they got your message, but you get nothing! ive had this discussion with my friends over and over again
