You could be right ,however I think it isn't very far along as they have all this new technology that is now able to take 3D pics of what is going on.
I guess to have twins is to be doubly blessed or for some people you might say doubly damed.
Having kids in this day and time is a very big decission to make because it costs a lot of money to bring them up and there is so much uncertainty in the world at the moment.

Usually a doctor can tell at the first ultrasound, unless the twins are back to back. Or you can tell with the heartbeat. Usually they do an ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby when you are about 20-23 weeks along.

Sometimes the first tipoff a doctor or midwife gets is hearing two heartbeats and that could be as early as 9 or 10 weeks. They may wait until closer to week 18-20, however, to confirm with ultrasound. Your early growth will also be a clue.

O_o I imagine doctors SHOULD be able to detect two (or more) babies by the time you have an ultrasound (avg. 20 weeks), though it is possible that one might be hidden. If you've had your ultrasound, but still suspect you might be having twins, ask the doctor to be especially alert for the sound of a second heartbeat in the doppler they use at every checkup.

I guess, technically, as you can see a heartbeat at around 7 weeks, with an ultrasound, you could ALSO see two heartbeats if that were the case!

can be true depens if one baby is hiding behind the other, but if they are both visable you can see them both as early as 13 weeks which is when you'll more than likely have your first scan

However long it takes for them to normally detect one heartbeat. They'll detect two instead of one.
