The pond is 7500 ltr pond - no seems to know how much straw per ltr is safe.

Barley straw cannot be over done, and it works well but it is not the be-all and end-all of algae control. You should be providing increased water flow/aeration and planting a shade tree next to your pond. Also make sure you are not using any fertilizers near your pond as they will drain in and feed the algae. Freshwater clams will help a lot as well.

I don't think there is a maximum other than what you can fit on top, and lift off again afterwards.

It's a nice natural solution, but can be quite hard work at first. Barley Straw is not the easiest material to work with.

its suppose to work by releasing small amounts of H2O2 but like many things its effectiveness is questioned by many. i doubt you can overdo it but most people i've talked to say it does not live up to the hype.
