I asked Motorola This question about a month ago, and their answer to me was that "motorola only supports 512mb as the max memory card for the slvr L7".

They will never know if you put a 2gb in or not, so will have no way of voiding your warranty, which doesn't care what size card you even put in it. I don't have a similar model, but have put 2gb in my hp ipag which say 1gb, and it works just fine. You cannpt break anything by trying a 2gb, try it, if it doesn't work, no problem, you will have found out if it works or not.

I asked this exact same question for my Nokia 6230i.
The instructions say the biggest card that can be used is 512MB.
The answers I got were 512 was the limit.
So If they say it only supports 1GB you might have to happy with that.
I'd find someone who has actually tried it before buying one.
