I was always taught be my parents that if you pass someone when you have an umbrella, you should lift it over their heads, to avoid poking their eyes out. People don't do that anymore. Can we have them banned?

I was never taught this by my parents, but it just seems like common courtesy to me. We have too little of that left in our society today; common courtesy that is. I blame it on bad parenting and people who teach children to be self-centered rather than concerned about the welfare of others.

Haha I don't think there's a law that states that people could be banned for poking other people's eyes using their umbrellas!

Anyway, my parents never teach me that but it's already like a common sense to us, doesn't it? Duh, if ever just walk around with their umbrella not caring about other people who are taller than them, chances are, there'd be at least 3 out of 5 people gonna be victims of the umbrella incident. How sad.

Why not just get one of those 'brolly basher' attachments that you wear around your head to protect yourself. The deluxe models also enable you to send a high voltage electric charge back through the offending umbrella - it is really fun to watch them light up once the charge hits them.

Umbrellas are way too popular... I don't think you will ever see them banned! Now about those short people zooming up behind me with umbrellas...
