They have been releasing songs about "california" and life in "california" for years now and up to californication it produced some awesome tunes (scar tissue, under the bridge, around the world, aeroplane etc.) but now it is chart friendly and extremely boring. Used to like them but now really can't stand them. anyone feel the same?

In reply to the person who mentioned Pearl jam & AC/DC, i can't speak about pearl jam as don't know enough stuff but AC/DC didn't become boring, lose the edge on the music and release radio friendly music so they would sell more records.

Yup. They used to be quite innovative, but the record companies have successfully drained all of that from them, and of course they went along with it ($$$).

The chilis are by far the greatest band performing live today. The fact that you think they have lost their edge proves you're not a fan. If you knew the band enough you would realise how they are a funk and California influenced band, hence all the songs about california. Yes One Hot Minute and BSSM were good albums but some of the songs on those albums were not what the chilis are about. One Hot Minute is the album with Navarro playing guitar, Navarro being a heavy rock artist gave this album a heavier feel, but john frusciante is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, the way frusciante and flea compliment each other on the new album is amazing. Also the chilis have had to come through a lot with the drug addictions and deaths of friends especially hillel slovak the original guitarist. So dont say they've lost their edge, they havent they are a maturer band with great sounds and thats all there is to say.

no longer rather a RHCP guy. mom's Milk and BSSM are ok information, even nonetheless all in all their early stuff does not circulate me and that i do no longer think their stuff after those information minus a music or 2 rather... i do no longer understand. i've got self assurance they simply lost it someplace alongside the line. well known music: at this 2d, bare in the Rain BQ: First couple information were rather nicely. From there he's form of hit or pass over for me. It feels basically like the bypass over ratio gets larger as time is going on. Asbury Park is effective besides the certainty that. Darkness on the fringe of city too. BQ2: it is nicely, thank you. optimistically going to do a sprint artwork in the studio if the full factor strains up ideal. attempt to get our checklist finished in the subsequent couple months precise right here (palms crossed). BQ3: Brings me back. i like that one. BQ4: i'm going to have a seem...

No,I still like them. They were, are and stay great. Yes,maybe they had better songs in the past, but I will stay their fan forever. Dani California isn't such a bad song. But maybe Californication is better.Eiter way,I love them.I think that they are one of the best band it history of music.Besides the songs you've named,I like Cabron,By the way,Can't stop,Universally speakin,Fortune faded... I have a folder with just their songs on my computer.I think I have about 220 songs, more or less. What can I say? I truly love their songs.

I love the chilli peppers coz they are different and the actually write their own songs unlike most of the other popular singer (Britney spears, spice girls etc). They are doing fun stuff at the moment as you can tell by the videos (but their videos have always been wacky lol!) they will probably release good stuff again later.

I was a big fan up to the Californiacation album. By the Way was a good album, but not a real Chilli's album for me. Only got the new one this week and haven't listened to it yet.
I know this though: The Chilli's albums "Mothers Milk", "Bloodsugarsexmagik" and "One Hot Minute" are all absolute classic's.

It sounds the same because they developed their own unique sound. Just like Pearl Jam, they still sound the same. And Metallica. AC/DC will always sound the same.

There new album isn't that great, all the songs sound kinda of similar and fake, but I still love them because of their past works.
