It depends... The first thing to consider is, "Should religion play a role in society or should science; or possibly both?"

After you come to a solution to that, you would then have a more absolute path to partake because you would be able to at least "attempt" a question so vast as the one you asked...

Personally, I think people are born due to many things. The first and formost would be basic instinct; people wish to reproduce. ...After all; it feels good doing it! HA!

The second rational possibility would be the need for our society to reproduce in order to maintain existence. You cannot have a society and not have reproduction.

The third could then be for personal reasons (i.e.- maybe you wish to attain a legacy, resolve a weird "lonliness issue", or wish to try parenting out to see how well you can "lead by example" in this world of issues).

The main thing is to maintain a sense of optimism. I know it's hard in this world with all the horrible things happening, but just maybe we'll pull through it if we keep our eyes on the prize!

Hope this helps.

On each world where it is found life is a single organism. It extends through like a plant coming from a single seed. See that strand? It is your great great grandmother. See how it branches? Each new tendril a child, and from each child more tendrils, though sometimes a lonely one that has no tendrils, but still not disconnected, only not branching. Life, one thing, wrapping itself around a world, reaching from future to past.

This is what it would be like to see life in the fourth dimension of time.

Yes, I have thought about it.

Cloning isn't there yet. :)

Seriously, you're assuming that there is purpose in the universe. There may be none.

We are born because self-replicating phenomena is possible and exists in a universe like ours with our physical laws. It makes salt water crystallize. It makes viruses. It makes us.

And it just happens. No purpose necessary.

Some people are born just to live and die...
Some people are born to kill others and die...
Some people are born to help others live...
Some people are born just to ask why they were born...

From my Reincarnationist view, I reject the idea of the biblical 'God' but I recognize the cosmos as an intelligent source which to me is the true God. I accept everything and everyone as star stuff - i.e., a part of this cosmic energy.

To me, our purpose is to take these small bits of God that we each are and develop them as independent incarnate beings who are connected to, but distinct from, each other. We develop through the exercise of free will and by reacting to the free will of those who touch our lives.

Our physical bodies separate us into independent beings, but every one of us - and everything - is a portion of the energy of creation, which most people refer to as 'God'. We would not be here if not for God, and God would not exist if not for us; we are connected to this constantly expanding eternal source.

The physicality we undertake in the material plane allows us to develop independence while testing our ability to cope with each other and grow spiritually stronger.

As incarnates, we begin as dark entities who are unaware of the connection we have to 'God' and to others, but gradually, through many lifetimes, we illuminate the darkness within us with the light of wisdom, as we learn perfection.
