Here's my dilemma:
I work nights at a chain restuarant as a server/hostess and I've been there for a year and have a pretty good rep with the managers, even tho they(the managers) totally suck. I recently put my 2 weeks in bc I have another day job that I commute far to get to and i've been kinna burning out lately. In the past like maybe 4 months or so though the managers have been TOTAL jerks. I know that its not only me, they're hard on a lot of people, especially people who have been there awhile. But they expect me to manage their new people when all I do is work nights waiting tables or hosting and they give me SO much crap when things go wrong with their new ppl, like I'm the one who's supposed to be managing them.
Tonite is my last nite. i'm at my day job from 9:30 til 4:30 and then the restaurant from 6-12 and i dont wanna go. AND today's my birthday...
SO
should I go and be responsible or not go and say screw em cuz i really dont wanna go tonite?

Be professional about it and don't sink to the low level that the managers are at!
They sound like complete idiots... I know what it's like to work with people like that and it sucks!
Just go in and do your last night... that way if you ever need a reference from them or if anyone calls them to use as a reference for you, they won't have any reason to not recommend you!
It's your last night there AND your birthday... so when you finish your shift... all the more reason go out and par-tay!

Are you gonna use anyone from there as a reference?
If so, go. Even if it's a busboy who works there, you need to go on your last day otherwise it's quite a faux pas. Even if it's your boyfriend- it might slip that you ditched your last day in some accidental way.
If you're not gonna use anyone as a reference, don't go. Call in and say you don't feel well, or that you are stuck at your other job and won't be able to make it. You shouldn't work in a place you don't like on your birthday! Go have fun, eat cake, and party!

If you really don't want to go. Call them. Now!!!! Don't wait until the last minute. (they have to cover your shift). Just tell them you won't be able to make it tonight. Your sorry. But something has come up. What will they do? Fire you? This way at least you leave on good terms and your not burning any bridges in case you need a reference from them down the road. Good Luck! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!".

You should go. This is the last thing they're going to remember about you as an employee. If you need them as a reference in the future, you want them to think well of you. Not to mention there are usually loose ends to take care of the last day.

for the sake of your job history, i would go. you probably aren't gonna do anything but hang out and drink; almost the same thing you would do at work anyway. since your boyfriend is there, make the best out of your last day.
you don't want to be in the middle of an interview for your dream job, and then it slips that you couldn't even show up on your last day. trust me, you probably wouldn't get hired.
