You can do this, but in order to enable this type of access to your Yahoo mail account, you will need to PAY YAHOO by upgrading to Yahoo Mail Plus... when you do this, they will clearly supply you with the names of the servers and provide complete instructions on how to configure you mail client programs (ie Outlook & Outlook Express)

Microsoft has a step-by-step Tutorial on how you can set up Outlook and Outlook express.

There are two tutorials at the links I've given you below, which will teach you how to do this, step-by-step, with pictorial guidance. You can't miss with these.

However, the POP[Post Office Protocol] and SMTP[Simple Mail Transfer Protocol] settings need to be those of the ISP who is providing you with the Internet connection; because that's the route through which your mail needs to come and go. I'd suggest you call them and ask them for these things.

All the best.

The free email from yahoo, which most people have, will not work with outlook. You need to get a 3rd party tool that sits on your PC that will allow you to do that.

You need a software package called Ypops! for example.

POP3 does not work with the free Yahoo email. They have it disabled. You have to pay for the Yahoo Plus to be able to access it through POP.

POP3: pop.yahoo.com
SMTP: smtp.yahoo.com

Account type is POP3

Incoming; pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing; smtp.mail.yahoo.com

You must have a plus account for this to work.
