i would go with a damp cloth too. my aunt cleans her baskets with a pressured air to get all the dust off. you could also try wood polish since its made of wood, i can't imagine that would make it look too bad!

Believe it or not a good dose of warm water and a little dish soap will take care of your issues. I have several old baskets that I have bought at sales and they were pretty dirty. I just pop them in the kitchen sink, give them a good spray with the sprayer to rinse off all the loose dirt and then a light scrubbing with some soapy water followed by another rinse. Take the basket outside and shake as much of the water off as you can. Then place it in a well ventilated place to dry, like over a heat vent. Let it dry thoroughly before doing anything else with it. I'd suggest a day or two. And I hope you left a bad "report" on that Ebay seller!

You can try cleaning any spots with a damp cloth and a mild solution of soap and water. Also, I have heard that some people have gotten good results in cleaning mildew spots or stains by using a weak bleach solution.
