Having boxed for a number of years (just amatuer) "The Million Dollar Baby" must be near the tops. Also more recently the Russel Crowe boxing film, Can't remember the title (a little punch drunk).
It's strange that either a funny or sad'n sentimental can have the same effect.
Meg Ryan's earlier movies could make you laugh or bring a lump to your throat, such as "French Kiss" and When Harry met sally.
Julia Roberts always good for a tear too.

Just thought of 3 more to add "101 Dalmations", "Casablanca" and "African Queen"

Magnolia - the amazing film directed by P. T. Anderson, with an amazing cast. Great if you want a good blub, especially if you've had a bottle of wine, this film is the most catharthic in my collection! It's certainly the best thing that Tom Cruise has ever done.

It's a Wonderful Life for that "things aren't so bad" cry

Breakfast at Tiffany's for that "time to stop running away" cry

The Lord of the Rings:Return of the King for that "two-hour long" cry

Saving Private Ryan (the 1st 15 minutes) for that "I'm gonna puke" cry

Casablanca for that "doing the right thing sux sometimes" cry

There are just so many more that I can't think of .... I'm going to cry!!!

Yeah Green Mile and Philadelphia, but the film that makes me cry buckets, is the Passion of Christ. What he endured so that we could have eternal life is shockingly portrayed in this film, even if you only see it as they way humans treat other humans. Tess makes me cry a bit too.
