Lots of chess sites out there. I am looking for the BEST FREE chess site. Where one can play team games, league games as well as Blitz or Bullet chess online. Not just corresponding chess. Also chess tourneys daily would help. BUT FOR FREE??

FICs is the best place to play chess online in real time, but it's not a site it's a whole server. You can watch professional games over it, and even get taught free lessons too.

However you'll have to download a client to play on the server, I suggest: http://varese.home.att.net/
It has the look of a totally professional and paying software but it's free and doesn't contain any spyware, adware or viruses. Furthermore it works on Windows, Mac and Linux.
Good luck in your playing and maybe I might give you a game somewhere along the line.

Yahoo has been having a lot of problems. I suggest you goto http://www.freechess.org to play on their free chess server.
You can play on Freechess via your browser or you can download a free interface at http://www.babaschess.net for an excellent and free online chess experience.

FICS (www.freechess.org) is the best, hands down. It is real-time chess. Mostly blitz and lightning (some slower games and variants.)
