Simon, from your two questions here I think you are a very distressed person. Perhaps you should see a doctor or a counsellor.
I feel that your wife is going to oppose this, if that is what you would like to do. What you are describing sounds very much to me like an abusive relationship.
You will need to get some help to leave this abusive relationship where you seem to be being dominated and made to do things you do not want to do.
