I can be a little compulsive with it. When I was at Blockbuster I felt the need to put the movie where it belonged or if something isnt facing the right way.... etc

When I'm clothes shopping I sometimes find myself refolding tops and putting clothes back on the proper rack. It annoys the hell out of my friends, but I can't help myself. Good to know I'm not alone.

I do these sorts of things all the time. Like at the grocery store, everything has to be organized in the check out line [boxes ranging from big too small, cans all together in rows of three, ect] I won't let the cashier turn the conveyor belt on to scan my items until its oraganized enough to satisfy me. It drives my boyfriend, the cashier and the people behind me insane. Everything has to be a certain way or I feel sort of anxious. Same thing pretty much everywhere. I'm just a neat freak. I grew up in a messy household and I guess the need to have things clean and organized festered from there. If everything in my apartment isn't clean and organized [even if my boyfriend went to bed without showering] then I have a really hard time sleeping.

I think it is a lttle compulsive but you aren't alone. I do it to the items in the refrigerated cases in stores. I turn all the bottles and cans facing label forward so I can see what is what. Old habit, I guess; I worked in a 7-11 while going to college.

Actually, I do. *L* It's partly because I've worked in retail and shoppers are messy! Then there are discount stores where they have really cool merchandise, but it's not displayed very well... Tuesday Mornings for example... it's like Pier 1, but they don't spend any money on designers or district managers who supervise the arrangement of anything... it's just four walls and shelves of stuff.

People make fun it and call it obsessive, but as they say "the devil is in the details". Detail oriented folks make great employees. Think of it as a skill and use it to your advantage. Good luck!

No but when I go to the grocery store I sit there and pull out the items that are out of date and I like to cull the vegetable section and pull out the rotten ones.

I worked in a grocery store for 6 years, it is ingrained in me! I can't help it! And it bothers the crap out of me to have rotten and old food on the shelves since most people don't take the time to look at expiration dates.

ALWAYS CHECK EXPIRATION DATES!!! Grocery store workers are often lazy and do not rotate properly!

Me too! I think that it stems from when I was a sales assistant and I had to keep a store tidy, but then I found myself straightening the shelves in tesco, asda, the corner shop- I had to stop doing it eventually, because friends refused to go shopping with me!
But now that I'm a mom, all those 'everything must be in the right place' feelings have returned!

lol I thought I was the only wacko that did that! I do it ALL the time EVERYWHERE I go! It just bothers me to see things unorganized. Im a total neat freak at home and it's hard for me to not be a neat freak when I go out. Not just at stores, but even when I go over to my close friends houses I find myself cleaning up and organizing. I keep myself under control if Im at someones house I don't know that well....I wouldn't want to offend them.

It's good to know there are others out there keeping America organized! lol

:)

Only if I take it will I be sure to put it back correctly. If something is on the shelf messed up I don't clean up store for them. That is the job that they are supposed to do in order to keep the customer happy.

LOL! One time I organized the girls' Hanes Underwear because I was SO mad that I couldn't find my kids' sizes when they were younger! It's true, don't laugh! Then after I got it in order, I was able to find the print and sizes I needed. Stop laughing!!!
And yes, I do the same things you do, also.
