Try another monitor.
The brown slot is called AGP. If you would be able to put a non-AGP card in that slot, then you can kiss goodbye the motherboard.
Are there any error-beeps?
Is there any wheel-button on the monitor with which you can turn the contrast or brightness? Maybe they are then turned all the way the wrong way.

If no image is coming at all, the CPU could be dead.

Try a different monitor and if you still get no display, you may have an issue with the processor or the memory that is keeping the PC from getting far enough along in the boot up to have anything to display.

When you boot, do you see the lights flash on your keyboard, your floppy and/or cd drive and does the hard drive run? If not, the PC is not booting.

If you boot, and you see the lights, and the hard drive continues to run, so you can hear it booting, then it may be either the video card or the monitor.

Unfortunately, I suspect it is the first problem. You will probably need professional help with it.
