Hello,
Having their children enrolled in sports,or any type of program.Gives their child the social skills needed in society for when they reach adulthood. So in my opinion. The parents do this at the earliest age they think will benefit their children. And yes, sometimes the parents do this way to early for the early for the child to appreciate and grow socially. And it is also done so that the child may live the dream that the parent(s) missed out on when they were youmg...

Sometimes parents will do this because they want to keep you busy and out of trouble. But if you really don't like what you are doing then you should have a heart to heart talk with your parents. Maybe there is something else you would like to do. Tell them exactly how you feel, but do it in a mature way. Don't whine and gripe and moan. Good Luck.

I make my kids do the sport of their choice for an entire season...
If I didn't, they'd be lazy little couch potatos or their eyeballs would be glued to a computer monitor...
But on an up note...they love the sports that they chose and do more on top of that...my daughters are cheerleaders and do ballet
My son plays football and soccer.

Because they are now living there lives through you,and that's wrong. Some just want their kids to be more successful than they where but push to hard.If you truly don't want to be in sports you need to tell them this.It may be just a hobby for you but it may be everything to them, talk about it,bring or get your pastor to talk to them with you, just don't keep it to yourself.

time to tell parents you no longer want this. make them listen.
i wanted my child to do baskeball(she was good) but she said she didnt want to and I didnt make her.
talk to them calmly--say:
mom, dad; i would like to stop doing this gymnastics. dont tell them because you have no life, just say, you would like to be with your friends. and be a teen. and as 15yr this is no longer my interests.
they should respect this decision.
hope they would understand this. tell them to save their money for them.

Parents do that because they want to shape you to be the best you can be.
