MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB

Mary Had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day.
Twasn't even in the rule.
He made the children laugh and play.
To have the lamb at school.
And then the rules chanded one day.
Illegal it became.
To bring the Lamb of God to school.
Or even speak his name
Everyday got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh.
We hear gun shots and tears.
What must we do to stop[ the crime,
Thats in our schools today?
Let's let the Lamb come back

I agree...it's sad that we can't even mention God in our schools.

As for another post...GET TEACHERS INVOLVED....this does absolutely no good since MANY PARENTS ARE NOT INVOLVED at all. Teachers call home to discuss incidents and either get no answer, an answering machine (and no return call), a parent who doesn't care or doesn't believe their child could ever do such a thing.

Not to mention groups such as PTA, PTSA, etc. where you have teachers showing up hoping to meet parents (in the evening...not paid time) but only one or two parents show up (and the teachers are teaching over 100 children per year/grade)

PARENTS NEED TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN....they had them, not me.

I can't help but agree with you to a certain extent.
When I first started school everyday was started with a prayer and then the Pledge of Allegiance. And it did'nt hurt me a bit.
In 2nd grade the teachers were relieved they no longer had to lead us in prayer because they found it hard to say a general prayer that would'nt offend anyone on a daily basis. But we were given a moment of silence to say our own prayers if we so wished to start the day.
By the 3rd grade that also was stopped. We were in school to learn.Prayers were for church.
And while I don't understand what the big deal is about having a teacher say a general prayer thanking God for the new day with everyone arriving in class safely or asking thought for a sick or injured student,I must say that the daily prayer being removed from school in my opinion has little to do with the violence in schools and on streets.
I believe WE have robbed our children of their innocence by turning a blind eye to the filth they watch on T.V.and hear on the streets.
It's become acceptable to see people engaged in sex showing everything but the mans penis at 4p.m.It's funny to hear the F word continually on the radio or on T.V.And in todays rush people don't seem to take the time to explain things to their kids.Respect and consideration HAVE to be TAUGHT in the home. With so many single parent families and people with kids who are forced to work 2 jobs to make ends meet it's tough to screen what the kid sees on T.V. and know how the kids friends act.Let alone teach them respect. The kids are left to learn from the T.V. cos the babysitter is there to watch the kids not teach them anything.
I strongly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. We All need to work together {parents, neighbors, shools and church} to turn things around.
When I was a child and I did something I knew I should'nt it never failed that my mother knew about it before I got home.My mom thanked my neighbors for correcting me rather than get mad and tell the neighbor to mind their own buisness or call the police on them for grabbing me before I ran into the street or swatting my butt after I stupidly talked back or threw a rock at someones window or another kid.
A swat from the principle at school went far as well to help me overcome unacceptable behavior. But in this day and age you can't trust anyone.
Kids seem to come home from their first day of Kindergarten knowing the tooth fairy,Easter Bunny and Santa don't really exist and can proudly rattle off the number of the child abuse hot-line and have no problem letting the parent know they'll call it in a heartbeat if they feel they're being mistreated.

thats a big question. i think the way to stop violence in schools is simply HAVE THE TEACHERS GET INVOLVED, know the childrens parents, if the teacher sees something change in the child, they can consult with the parents.

the reason the children revert to violence is that they think they are not loved, and their teachers are the ones pushing them towards violence, in saying that they will never succeed.

and thats the truth.
