I’m going to Madrid in august, for school. I’m trying to pack some of my clothes now, and I’m really confused about what should I take with me? What do Spanish girls tend to wear? How could you describe their style? In my country girls usually dress up, and wear high heels, not all of them but the big majority… but I’m not sure I’ll need those dressy clothes and high-heels shoes in Madrid, actually I’m pretty sure I won’t…
I can only take with me about 20kg, so that’s a problem too…need to take clothes that I would definitely wear over there.

The 14 to 20 year olds are into the casual modern (short tops, navel showing over the top of skirts and pants.)
The next age bracket 20-30 is a bit more fashion minded, but everyone has a pair or 2 of jeans, and comfy tops & t-shirts for casual wear..
Definitely take 1 or even 2 dressy outfits (if they don't take up too much space in your suitcase) with high heels to match..
For the rest of the time you'll need comfortable walking shoes and/or a pair of sports shoes (Nikes for ex.) ...
(You'll love to just wander around the city in your free time...there is so much worth seeing)
If you are going to be in Madrid for a whole school term, you had better bring some warm clothes also...It can get really cold in Madrid in winter. And rainy too.
At least 2 or 3 sweaters, and an overcoat (medium weight)
You can always buy something if you cut a bit short in your packing...Shoes are not too expensive in Spain and the quality is excellent, Clothes are more or less the same all over Europe. And prices have rocketed in the last few years.
August is a good month for shopping (as is january) the end of season sales are on...
Try The EL CORTE INGLÉS Dept. Stores & ZARA has neat stuff for young folk too and is not overpriced.
Hope you enjoy your stay...
Madrid is a magnificent city to visit, and if you have time, take a few side trips...
Toledo is very interestindg, as is Aranjuez (the palace is gorgeous), and many other places!

I was just in Madrid in June. As far as clothing goes, think business casual. Not T-shirt and jeans. I didn't see any shirts with logos or writing. Lots of sandals, nice skirts, nice shirts/blouses. Not real flashy, but stylishly casual. I know, sounds confusing. It sounds like you are on the right track though. Just be sure to take clothes you are comfortable in, but not so comfortable that you will stand out as a tourist. Knee length skirts or mid-calf length. Capris, gouchos, khakis, etc. Hope that helps, at least a little.
Have fun and remember Spain is HOT this time of year! But it definately cools off once the sun goes down. So pack a couple of light layering shirts.

i was in spain this past spring semester. you can wear jeans. lol. august may still be a little hot. spanish girls like to match a lot. literally matching shoes belt shirt jewelry. but thats more of the younger crowd. bring some nice clothes to go out at night in. and definately dont bring yoru best shoes. the cobblestones there kill your shoes! make sure you bring comfortable shoes for night. you will walk everywhere!! get use to guys hissing and whistling and saying things like "hola cuerpo!" stuff liek that. its how they are. any other questions feel free to message me! also if you want to travel palces and dont know where i can help! i miss spain so much!!

definately fashionable. you want to look sleek, casual but put together, and modern.
spain is a european fashion hub! I am only quoting what ive seen on tv and myspace, haha.
I would go with comfortable skirts, knee length. Those are probably in most places. However, when packing you also want to investigate the typical climate over there. I know you are going to have an amazing time. Good luck!

You need to consider this:
-Spaniards are into European fashion so definitely you need fashionable and modern clothes!
-Madrid is super HOT and a/c is not as "efficient" as in the US so be prepared to perspire a lot.
-Wear sunlotion or you will get burned real easy walking in the streets.
- If you want to look like a Spaniard wear flashy at night!
