We can slow it, but not stop it. It hinges around hormone optimization. All of them are important, but the "Big Daddy" is Human Growth Hormone (HGH). There are numerous studies out now showing that in any given older population, the lower their HGH, the more signs of chronic conditions normally associated with aging. There are many ways to encourage the production of HGH. Exercise is very important. DHEA and stacked amino acids provide the body with the nutrients needed to ramp up production. You can take HGH itself, but if you are going to go that far, it's a good idea to have a periodic blood panel done. The goal is to achieve the HGH levels of a healthy 35 year old, regardless of your chronological age.
An excellent primer on the topic is a book titled "Grow Young with HGH" by Klatz. It is an easy read and lays out the case for HGH and how to go about it.

Eat a apple a Day.
DNA Damage is process that continuously take place.
Nature has another system that protects the damage its called as DNA repair.
both the process are working parrallely. as time progress the DNA damage process takes over the Repair and more no of DNA gets damaged and unrepaired. (at times the genes related to DNA Repair system also get damaged)
so cells start aging and dying.
free oxygen radicals are the major cause of DNA damage.
one way to control it is to have natural Anti oxidants. eg there is a man who is only eating apple a day and his biological age is 65 % of his chronological age. that is at his actual age of 100 biologically he is only 65.
Whole lot of research is going on and there is some success i feel we would be in position to live more longer and with better health.
another clue is in the cancer cells. Cancer genes (oncogenes) convert normal cell (age 30) to a age 0 cells become young.
so cancer has something init, which actually travels back in time and rejuvenates but cancer is the dangerous killer too.

Yes we can control the aging process, read a book called Ageless Body, Timeless Mind by Depok Chopra. It's all about controlling stress in our life, and thinking young. Because the power of the mind is incredible. Most people just don't know how to use it.

Supposedly, we can slow it down. The Atkins and Zone books on anti aging give plans. According to the Zone book, high insulin production (hyperinsuliemia) is one of the major causes.
For basic information on hyperinsulinemia, check out www.mayoclinic.com and search for hyperinsulinemia.
For basic information on hypoglycemia, one of the results of hyperinsulinemia, check out www.hufa.org.
www.hufa.org is a website run by Hypoglycemics United to Foster Awareness, a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation. Pegasus 90 is a co-founder and the current president of the organization.

I would have to agree wiyth dying cells, we do have the technolgy to repair and slow down the process though, but like space travel it is only available to the insanely rich, that and I would imagine how well we handle and deal with stress is also a major factor

Not likely.
However, there is a trend among successful individuals who are considered "intellectuals" by society. As they enter the twilight of their life, many become interested in ways to cheat death as their final act of hubris.
It is shameful that people continue to give these narcissists a pulpit.

we can only improve our health through healthy habits. age doesn't really matter much, its health. we can look 50 but feel 30.(just example)
although, however, there is a genetic disorder that "ages us faster". i think its called tay-sach. forgot but try searching that on the web. this actually affects our health which makes us age. so health i think is the main factor in aging. ps there are three types of health: physical, mental, and social but i think u already knew that
