Physics can't predict all (check for chaos theory and quantum mechanics); Yet, Physics can predict with great accuracy a huge deal of physical phenomena or event- That is one of the reasons I do believe in physics, but the main point is physics is a Science, and as such, it is based in the Scientific Method- It is this method what give Physics (also Chemistry, Biology and other Natural or Physical sciences) their credibility. It has a huge amount of mathematics on it, and this "a priori" (or beforehand) type of Knowledge helps with credibility, too. Not to say they are perfect thou, just more accurate and least imperfect than other form of knowledge, like "popular wisdom", which , without the proper method, they can be more often wrong or at least a little bit more bias.

I believe its possible. My neighbour told me she has it done and it happened, but not all. They can also be mistaken about something. I also think there are a lot of charlatans out there. They probably ask the dead or something, I could imagine it's not healthy to do it.
