I have started a new business, but don't know where to look for customers.. The obvious answer is Pet Shops, but they consider me competition because I sell aquariums, equipment and fish. But I also offer many services, such as installation, set up and maintenance of saltwater and freshwater aquariums. I am seeking commercial and residential customers. Just don't quite know where/how to advertise (farm).

I did a little searching & came across *two sites that may be able to help you further:

http://www.petfishtalk.com
http://www.aquariumfish.net/

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

4) Advertise on Craiglist

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

*I am in NO way affiliated with these sites -- just ran across them doing an online search*

This type of business you can't sit back and expect your customers to find you, mostly because they are not looking for you. You business in unique and people don't think it exist. You will need to hit the road and find your customers. Advertising will be a wasted effort for you. Your most likely customers to pay a visit to are Chinese resturants, lawyer offices, major corporation headquarters, shopping malls, or any other facility likely to use an aquarium as part of the motif. Major corporate headquarters are likely loaded with aquariums as a stress relief item.
