I recently tried to change my laptops CPU because the pentium celeron 1ghz has running too slow. I couldnt get to the CPU, so i gave up. after putting everything back together, i turned it on and the monitor is black. the power is on but i cannot hear any hard-drive noise. ive taken it apart again, put my finger on the pentiums gem with the power on and it doesnt even get hot! what shall i do? whats wrong with it?

You didn't touch the motherboard did you? If you didn't ground yourself out when you took the computer appart you have quite possibly knackered it totally with static.

You have nothing to loose now so take it apart and take static precautions. Check that you have plugged in all the power cables inside.

Boss i think you fited the CPU is wrong direction OR not fixed it properly...no display means no power...when u power on, is there any beep or something? any keyboard LED light?
if not, then better stop fooling around and take it to known vendor.

its possible that you put it together wrong and fried the CPU

i think thats a serious problem with hardware. Take it to maintenance
