My husband got a little blood on his shorts. We soaked them in cold water and used a little detergent to get it out. We thought we had, put them in the washer and dryer and now see that you can still see it. Any ideas of how to get it out since it's already been through the wash or are we out of luck?

You may want to try some thunder blast or Mean Green..It might work.. but since you run it through the washer and dryer i don't know.. Next time you get blood on something and want it to come out..rince it out in the toliet, like you do dirty diapers.. it will take the blood right out of it. I don't know what it is about the water in the toilet but it does work.. I had a daughter that had bloodie noses all the time and that is the only way i could get the blood out of her clothes and not let them all get ruined. good luck
with the stain.. Oh you might want to try some peroxide 50/50 solution may bubble it out.

Sorry I don't know how to save this pair of shorts for you BUT..in the future if you put some hydrogen peroxide on a bloodstain while it is still fresh it will all come out in the wash. The proteins in blood need to be broken up quickly for them to wash out. I work in health care and this is the only thing we have found that really helps....also stain stick will do it or tide to go , but you have to get it while it's still a fresh stain.

Let them soak in cold water for a couple of hours would have worked when the stain was fresh, but since you washed it I don't know how that'll turn out. But for future reference, when you get blood on things, put them under cold water.

Do not wash the stain as it will set and then it wont come out. Best thing to do is to soak in cold water with plenty of salt!

Try hydrogen perixide. That will eat the protiens that are in blood. But sometimes after a garment has been washed you won't beable to get all of the stain out (depends on the fabric).

How about a patch of some kind to go over it? Maybe an iron-on in your local craft store or something to that effect. If you can't get the stain out maybe you can find a patch that he would like to cover it up. Just a suggestion if the stain doesn't come out with anything else. :-)

you can try soaking them in regular Clorox bleach and cold water per the directions on the bottle. since you already have the stain, all you can do is try. they may not be color safe, so you could test the bleach on an inner seam with a q-tip first.
