It depends upon your education goals. The more you are educated in using computers the easier it is to become a successful student.

From keyboarding to knowing how to use MSFT Excel and PowerPoint would help you make graphs and do presentations for class projects.

I am in a business program at a university, and all we do are projects and presentations. Without my basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, I would be lost. I took a class on Access, but need a refresher...it deals with databases.

So that is why computer knowledge is essential in college.
