No, it's WGA telling you your copy of WINXP is an illegal copy. Windows Genuine Advantage has been put on to your system to nag you to get a licenced copy of windows instead of the pirate version you have. You put the update on your computer when you agreed to install it. Get a genuine copy or go to the shop where you got your computer and demand a genuine copy. Good luck!

The message you are receiving is a genuine windows message.
This comes from an update from microsoft called "The Genuine Advantage Tool".
Microsoft are working to combat piracy of their software and as such know how many times a certain 25 digit code used to activate windows has been used.
If you bought your computer secondhand and the seller has used a counterfeit copy of windows, this is probably where the problem lies.
This is not your fault!!! and microsoft know this,so in order to validate your computers 25 digit code(key) you will have to call them and explain the problem for them to "SELL" you a legal copy at a reduced price.
You will NOT be in any trouble as it was not you who counterfeited their software.

well i got a different answer when i instaled automatic updates
that was "you don't have a genuine windows installation", not the exact words.
if that is the case
in the system 32 folder rename
rename WgaLogon.dll WgaTray.exe to
WgaLogon.old and WgaTray.old
and when you are installing automatic update again do it manually
i.e. there would be a windows originality conforming program so don't install that and install others.

Those are from Microsoft themselves. (Please read the capitalized questions carefully) It's NOT A VIRUS. IT HAPPENED TO ME FROM THE LAST TIME THAT I UPDATED BY WINDOWS. IT CAME FROM AN UPDATE FROM WINDOWS THAT CHECKS IF YOUR COPY OF WINDOWS IS GENIUINE OR NOT.
My computer also pops-up those things. If you don't have $$$ for buying another one, you may want to ignore em' and stop being hesitated by Microsoft. That's Microsoft's attitudes these days...
It's not a virus...it's created by Microsoft to check if it is genuine. IF it's not genuine you WILL NOT HAVE ANY UPDATES from Windows Updates
Good luck

You downloaded the messenger virus. Scan you computer for viruses with an updated virus checker. If you are using a dated virus scan, the virus can hide itself from it.

We have the same problem on my mom's computer and can't get it off unless we PURCHASE what they're selling. It says that if we remove it, it could possibly harm our computer. It must be a virus.

Yes you do have a virus attack... if you have decent virus protection like Norton, you need to run a full scan....if not.. go get Norton... it does a pretty good job.
