I used to make candles when I was younger but never bothered with bought moulds or wax etc. and was insulted when my sister bought me a kit for my birthday!
I used bits of candles that had burnt down beyond useable, empty yoghurt pots, string, an old sauce pan, an old pencil and some blue tack and a sharp object like a skewer or similar.
To make the 'mould' you take a yoghurt pot pierce a hole in the bottom using the skewer and thread the piece of string through the hole. You tie the other end of the string to the pencil and pull it taught so the pencil is resting on the top of the pot. You then stick blue-tac over the hole so it holds the string in place and also prevents leakage. Melt the wax down in the saucepan, leave it to cool for a minute - if you pour it in when it's still hot the pot will melt and go out of shape. Leave the wax in the pot to go solid - when it's cool and semi-solid you can transfer it to the fridge to speed up the process. Marbled candles are also good, these are created by taking bits of solid wax and placing them in the mould first, then pouring melted wax on top. The solid bits show through if they're a different colour from the main wax.
I used to sell them and give them to friends and family as presents.
Thanks for asking, brought back a load of nice memories!

I bought a whole kit molds 80 lbs block of wax dyes fragrances wicks the works at a church rummage sale for $15 made some real ugly candles at first then got the hang of it didn't make much money on it but one years every one got candles for everything Xmas birthdays Arbour day, labour day in the end I made back 4 times what I spent on the kit I did buy more wax some bees wax and regular paraffin then about a 2 years later sold the kit to some one for $50 The hard thing is making layered candles with different aromas with out them bleeding together too much, yet making the layers stick real well.
tricky but fun, makes the house smell great.
And dipping is easy just takes patients.
Tip is buy most of the kit used if you can and shop around for wax the prices do vary.
Best of luck

Its really easy, you can get wax and moulds from craft or art supply stores. Try ice candles they are very pretty and easy, just pop ice cubes in the mould with the molten wax, gives a lovely lacey candle.

When i was younger i used to make them. I got one of those sets Argos sold and it had 3 different moulds and told you how to make different colours and designs etc. Have you tried a search engine on the internet? There is probably someone out there selling it, or Ebay??
