Create seperate e-mails. Such as one you hand out to friends and family and antoher you use to sign up for online sites... thats where %99 of spam comes from, because when you give it out to one website they are gonna just turn around and sell it to the next.

Use the junk mail filters in your mail application. Create a list of filters with such words as "APR, equity, viagra, insurance, publishers, nude, teenage, mortgage," etc. etc... and the filter will take out stuff that you do not want and send it to a specified file which you may review or just delete.
Yahoo mail is pretty good at it IF you take the time to do it right...

Assuming you are using Yahoo mail, open the email, and click the SPAM button on the top right. Any further email from that sender will go straight to your spam folder which you can simply empty without ever opening.

If you have a junk mail folder, just report as much spam as you can as spam, and it will be automatically downloaded there. Then just don't look at the folder.
