Sane is Safe
Every morning as we pour our eyes on the newspaper, our heart is dwindled by the news on the death toll that accidents account for all over the world. While natural calamities like earthquakes & floods make it to the frontpage, smaller accidents keep hidden in the corners of the backpages. What does this show? Is small accident a small news? Unfortunately, it is. This is because the number of accidents is so large that it is merely a formality to put them into press. Major chunk of casualities goes to road accidents. People set out for a cause & never make it.
This is not at all natural and definitely unwanted. But do we do something about it? Yes, being as courageous as we are we say," Poor people! What can we do? Life moves on.". Can we be more more foolish & ignorant? No chance. But wait a minute & give it a thought. We cause them; so why not prevent them.
Various reasons for these accidents can be easily counted on are fingertips. Drinking & driving has traditionally been considered the biggest cause for accidents. Lo! I don't drink at all! So, I do my bit. May be not. A recent survey shows that cellphone users are causing more accidents then any other class of ignorants and that includes drunken drivers. We all use cellphones and know that these little devils shouldn't be used while driving but we hardly put it to practice. Our life can never be smaller than a phone call. Traffic signals are neglected in sence way as if they were never there to be seen. The notion,'Better late then never', is known to all of us. But it hasn't been of any use at all. Everyone wants to rush at the speed of light. While some of us are forced to do it because of lack of time, most of us do it for a purpose. Yes, a purpose it is. Whats that purpose. Its fun. People enjoy reckless driving. No one wants to be left behind. So, we overtake other vehicles in whatever way we can. There are even smarter people who do such acts just to show off there skill & attitude. An attitude thats bigger than than any humanity. While some of us listen music at a very high volume & turn a deaf ear the road traffic. Not only the driving community is responsible for it but every single person is contributing. From pedestrians to children, from the road side romios to the government authorities, all are involved. Sharp bends on raods, huge potholes, malfunction of traffic signals, corrupted traffic police all set the stage for accidents. Policemen allow unauthorised people to drive anyway they want because for them bribe is everything. People walk on the rosd side as if its a public park with care no care what soever for the traffic. Children can so easily be seen playing cricket or roller skating on roads. Many shopkeepers display their products on the roadsides & pavements. Causing encroachment & inviting accidents. Its monsoon now & potholes are getting bigger & bigger. The drainage system in the cities is as bad it is can ever get. The streets take shape of a river. In such hazardous conditions no one is safe.
Our small mistake can turn into a blunder within seconds. Its not always that the defaulter has to suffer. Sometimes the other one has to pay a price. And me or you can so easily be the next victim. And what for our safety? Seatbelts & helmets will handle that. But how many of us use it when there isn't a policeman around to catch us. Most of us don't understand the traffic signals & we don't know some mandatory rules as well.
Its high time that we give up our laissez-faire attitude & come together to avoid road accidents. Here each one teach one formula can be used to pass this message to the whole community. Government authorities should spare a thought for the Aam Admi & do justice to him by making true the promises made by them & utilise the the funds in a judicious manner.
Happy & safe driving.
Essay should use intense but easily understandable language. I have never written an essay of over 300 words. But I have also been appreciated as a good writer. However Iam not a good finisher. This essay would be somewhere around 600 words long. You can add more to it yourself. The heading is different & not everyone may like it but thats the way to go. I couldn't find time but did my best to finish it is as soon as possible. These assignments are given some time to finish BUT
Sorry if I am too late to be helpful.
